| Summary, etc | The present research study discussed various factors relating to self-medication. The survey conducted for this study revealed that rural population has very limited access to appropriate and affordable medicines. Rural people generally have insufficient financial means to purchase the necessary medicines. Health department maintains the spread of health facility at village level and provide services through Para-medical staff but these services are timely or rarely available.<br/>Due to financial constraints, the inadequate supplies of medicines at health facility do not provide need-based medicines always to needy people. Thus, most of the people are enforced to promote market for their health care requirements. These consist of Chemist's shops, Quacks/RMPs, Provision stores, Friends/relatives that lead to the promotion of self medication. These providing sources thus help in self-medication, is an often chosen practice in sample rural areas' population as survey revealed. These providing sources include Allopathic, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Herbal and medicines Traditional medicines as well as Home remedies that are used in minor and major ailments. The collected data proves various factors-- factual and hypothetically revealed self-medication practices cannot be eliminated.<br/>It is likely that the present study would be useful for policymakers, Researchers and those who are engaged in medical and<br/>pharmaceutical professions. The author also looks forward to receiving comments, constructive criticism and advice from readers in this endeavor to enhance this as a further research project.<br/> |
