Political and economic importance was the basis of making road in this region until WW II, when its importance shifted to military purpose, known as War Road. The book “Road Communication in North East India and Beyond: Bridging People and Culture” is addressing all these issues along with community importance of road and trying to find out a policy which shall be pertinent in the region concerned.
