The Special Employment Programmes (SEPs) undertaken by the Government of Andhra Pradesh covered about 60 different types of schemes implemented by as many as 42 different agencies. Since it would be difficult to evaluate each scheme implemented by all these agencies, it was, therefore, decided to select the more important schemes, keeping in view the types of programmes, the outlay on these and other relevant factors. Eleven schemes were selected for a state level study. The draft reports in respect of each of these schemes were considered by the Steering Committee in association with the concerned implementing agencies. These studies have thrown valuable light on the manner of formulation and implementation of the programmes and are considered useful for the government to take policy decisions. This book presents the individual reports in respect of the schemes evaluated. These reports cover formulation, implementation and administrative aspects of the programme in depth. In fact, these reports have been prepared with a view to enable the government to initiate immediate measures that are called for, for correcting certain trends observed in the implementation of the programme.
