520 _aThe study on informal sector was carried out in the three major cities of Uttar Pradesh Lucknow city, Kanpur city and Agra city. The data from the entrepreneurs in these cities were mainly collected during the period of 2011 and 2012. Objective of the study has been to study about the informal sector and its role in poverty alleviation and employment generation in the major cities of Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, in the sample care was taken to approach the entrepreneurs who are generally pursuing investment occupations and for this we mainly emphasized upon the street vendors in the three major cities mentioned here. This was done through a structure interview schedule and time convenience of the entrepreneurs was taken into account so that their business does not get disturbed. They responded to our questions without stress and cooperated well with the investigators.
