Summary: "Evocative coaching is a person-centered, "no-fault," strengths-based coaching model grounded in the principles of adult learning theory and positive psychology. It utilizes a four-step design focused on supporting teachers and school transformation: Listen; Emphasize; Appreciate (as in Appreciative Inquiry); and Design (as in Design Thinking). The LEAD coaching process begins with the stories that coaches and teachers bring to their work as educators. By spending time with these stories, skillful coaches unearth the values and fears that both motivate and block teachers from achieving all that they hope to achieve. The Evocative Coaching model then incorporates a concrete, skills-based process for expressing empathy. Once connection, trust, and rapport have been established, coach and coachee engage in a search for strengths on which to build, and together design an experiment for moving forward. Rather than focusing on improving the performance of teachers through advice-giving, evocative coaches focus on how to equip those teachers to improve their own performance"--
